Intentional Programs- Reflective Curriculum

Honouring your philosophy and the EYLF

Thursday 29th March. 6pm- 9pm

Campbelltown RSL
Curriculum is “all the interactions, experiences, activities, routines and events, planned and unplanned that occur in the environment, designed to foster children’s learning and development” (Adapted from Te Whariki)

This practical workshop will guide us through the complexity of being deliberate and purposeful across the whole curriculum and how planning and programming can encompass so many aspects including making routine times matter.

We will have fun with the myths and truths relating to planning and documenting and the EYLF and NQF. We will also explore many various documentation samples that show how planning can be rich, and shared in ways meaningful to families.

Beyond behaviour- Responding to challenging behaviour inspired by New Zealand theories and strategies.

Tuesday 1st May 6pm- 9pm

Campbelltown RSL

This explores some theories on interpreting and responding to children’s behaviour. It includes video footage from a child psychologist in New Zealand with a particular emphasis on the importance of building children’s resilience and emotional maturity to regulate their own behaviour. It will also incorporate a range of tools and resources that can be easily implemented into the program to support children displaying challenging behaviour and methods to develop an effective partnership with families so you are achieving holistic approach to supporting children and families. This will also reference in particular preparation toward NQS 5- Relationships with Children and NQS 6 Collaborative Partnerships with families.

How committed are you in making a difference to a child’s behaviour?

This universal topic looks not only at the “tip of the ice berg” of guiding behaviour but delves deep down below the surface to discover the messages that the child is trying to send us. This session aims to support the early childhood professional move from the approach of simply reacting to a child’s behaviour to actually teaching the child how to develop responsible behaviour and independence. It explores a holistic approach of creating a profile on the child and developing collaborative teaching strategies to build positive outcomes for the child.
